Vision

Ranks

Expectations

Promotion/Demotion

Attendance

Our vision is to bring together the highest quality of players and progress through high-end raiding content in a fun, friendly, honorable, and mutually respectful manner.
GM/Officer
These ranks are for raiding members who voluntarily serve the guild by contributing their time, as needed, toward running the guild rather than playing the game.

Raider
This rank is for members who regularly attend guild raids.

Recruit
This rank is for members who are being evaluated for raider positions. Prior to promotion to a Recruit rank, an individual is expected to run 5-mans with the guild officers (if possible) and to participate in a voice interview with the officers so that the individual's general suitability for raiding in the guild may be determined. Recruits are generally held to a higher standard of raid attendance than raiders are so that we can make a fair evaluation of their commitment to the guild and their skill over a reasonably short period of time. Invites to raids and DKP accumulation are equal to that of Raiders. The only difference is Raiders have loot priority over Recruits, meaning even if a Recruit has more DKP, a Raider will receive an item they bid on.

Veteran
This rank is for highly capable individuals, who, for whatever reason (usually play time), are not able to be raiders, currently. We enjoy 5-mans, 10-mans, and PvP with these individuals when they are available to play. Generally, this rank will consist of former raiders who are no longer able to raid consistently. Veterans will be invited to raids if there are not enough available members and recruits of the proper class composition to raid. Veterans earn DKP normally, but they only earn standby DKP if they are actually in the raid for part of the evening.

Alt
Any Raider or Veteran in good standing may have any number of alternate characters in the guild. This is to promote guild communication when people are not playing their main characters. Alts are generally not eligible for raiding unless there is a clear need for that character on a given raid that cannot be filled by a raider, recruit, or veteran. All alts must have their main character designated in their in-game player note, or they will be subject to removal. Alts not played in the last 30 days are subject to removal.

Other Ranks
We have other ranks, such as Banker, that are left over from various time periods of the game. These are no longer used.
Officer and GM
All officers have sworn to place the vision and good of the guild as a whole above that of any other person or group of people. Within the context of their game-related actions, officers hold the interests of the guild as a whole above their own interests, above the interests of their friends, family, or any other person or group within the guild or outside the guild.

Class Leaders
Should the officers deem the position needed, one raider (preferably) or officer from each class is selected as class leader. These are duties of the class leader:

*Perform research and study theorycraft for your class. Utilize sources such as the Elitist Jerks forum. Become the guild expert on optimizing the raid performance of your class.

*Teach the other members of your class how to optimize their raid performance. Coach them on talent spec, gearing optimization, what gems and enchants to get, what consumables to bring, what weapons to use, and what attack routines to use.

*Research available macros and add-ons for your class, and coach the other members of your class in utilizing them to improve their performance.

*Study WWS reports after each raid, analyzing the performance of every member of your class. Coach the underperformers to bring them up to par everyone else.

*Participate with the officers in the evaluation of applicants and recruits of your class.

*Coordinate in-game activities of your class during raids. A good example would be curse or soulstone assignments.

*Coordinate the substitution between members of your class during raids to get the right people in that need certain drops on certain bosses. Also manage the playing rotation so that everyone gets equal raiding time and takes turns on standby.

*Coordinate specs for your class. A good example would be warlocks being sure to have all the various raid DPS buffing talents represented as well as the various healthstone sizes.

*Lead by example. This means you personally utilizing the optimal PvE raiding spec, always having consumables, and otherwise "walking the walk".

*Serve as class representative to the officers, bringing forward issues to the officers that they need to deal with or be aware of.

Raider (and GM/Officers)
Attendance
Members are expected to be able to attend a minimum of 2/3 of the guild 25-man raids. Real life will take precedence over this, of course, but a consistent inability attend raids may result in moving a member out of a Raider position, generally to a Veteran position. You can find more information under the Attendance section.

Consumables
Use of consumables is required for all 25-man raid bosses. Either one elixir or one flask is required. One food buff is required. Use your own judgment on whether additional consumables are beneficial such as potions, weapon buffs, and so forth. As an Ascent raider, you should be driven to always maximizing your performance on raids, and consumables are one aspect of that. Consumable use will help ensure that we are able to burn quickly through farm content and also progress rapidly on new bosses.

Raiding Absences
Post on the forums under AFK's and Vacations if you are going to miss a raid.

Standby/Waitlist
If you're standing by to raid on the waitlist, then keep your character parked within 10 paces outside the instance being raided. This will allow us to swap players quickly, as needed. You may play an alt during this time, so long as your raiding main character is parked right outside the zone. Do not offer to bow out of the raid if you're invited. The reason you were invited is because you are needed. The standby list is for people ready and eager to raid. It's not a place to sit around and soak up DKP for doing nothing.

General Member (Including GM, Officer, Raider, Recruit, Veteran, and Alt)

Forum Participation
Members are expected to read the guild forums every day that they play the game.

Conduct
Members are expected to conduct themselves honorably and fairly in their dealings with people inside and outside the guild.

Language
Members are expected to not use hateful or offensive language, and to keep swearing to a minimum in public channels and in general dealings with people outside the guild. THis includes but is not limited to guild chat, Ventrilo raid channel, WoW forums, and general/trade/LFG chat. Individuals may use whatever language they choose in smaller groups provided that all participants agree to the use of such language in advance.
Invitations and Promotions
At the request of an officer, a vote will be conducted on the officer forums for inviting a new member or promoting an existing member. The voting will continue for 1 week or until, based upon votes cast, the outcome has already been determined. A 2/3 majority of voting officers is required for inviting and promoting. These are the possible invitations and promotions to Veteran, Recruit, and Raider:
*Inviting as a Veteran
*Inviting as a Recruit
*Promoting a Recruit to Raider

Note that inviting alternate characters of Raiders and Veterans to the guild into the Alt rank is allowed at the discretion of a single officer and does not require a vote.

Removal and Demotions
At the request of an officer, a vote will be conducted on the officer forums for demoting or removing an existing member. The voting will continue for 1 week or until, based upon votes cast, the outcome has already been determined. A simple majority (>50%) of voting officers is required to remove or demote a member. These are the possible removals and demotions:
*Removal of Raiders, Recruits, and Veterans
*Demoting a Raider to Veteran

Creation and Removal of Officers
With the advice and counsul of the other officers, the GM creates and removes officers.
Raiders
Raiders must meet these attendance requirements:
*A Raider must post an AFK notice in the forums prior to missing all or part of 4 or more raids in a row. We appreciate posts for shorter absences, as well.

*A Raider's 4-week attendance must never drop below 50%. Of course, our general expectations are that Raiders will maintain 2/3 attendance or higher in the long term.

Those who do not meet these requirements are subject to being moved to the Veteran rank so that we can then staff to an appropriate level to remain a successful raiding guild. Raiders who move to Veteran can reapply for Recruit status when there is an available opening and when their attendance is expected to meet the standard.

Recruits
Recruits must maintain 75% attendance. A Recruit who falls below 75% attendance for a two week period will be moved from Recruit back to his prior rank in the guild. A Recruit from outside the guild who does not meet the attendance standard will be removed from the guild.

Veterans
Veterans who do not log into the game for more than one month are subject to removal from the guild.
